Witness what happens when Yale Dance Lab in partnership with Yale Schwarzman Center invites 16 choreographers to create digital dance poems, performed by dancers from across the Yale community. Knitting together local, national, and international communities of dance, “Transpositions: Dance Poems for an Online World” explores the continuous and interrupted transmission of embodied dance practices in digital life. Edited by by Kyla Arsadjaja MFA’20, the concept and direction of this episode is by Gregory Maqoma.

Lunarfest is a celebration of the Lunar New Year and Chinese culture, offering arts and cultural programs for adults and children throughout the city of New Haven and at Yale. Lunarfest creates community bonds through schools, arts nonprofit, and business partnerships.
Programs begin in the fall each year and culminate in a series of performances and events celebrating Lunar New Year. Critical partners are Yale, the City of New Haven, Town Green, and the schools, arts nonprofits, and libraries that offer space to discover new cultures in the greater New Haven neighborhood.

Join us for a reimagined Open Mic and Poetry Jam celebrating Dr. King through verse and spoken word. Hosted by Ngoma Hill and Croilot Semexan, this year’s event will honor Zanette Lewis who planted the seeds from which this signature program has grown.

The Open Mic will begin at 6pm and be followed by a tribute to Zanette Lewis featuring our hosts and a phenomenal line up of internationally recognized artists, including Taalam Acey, Roger Bonair Agard, Lyvonne Proverbs Briggs, Jessica Care Moore, Aaron Jafferis, and Sunni Patterson.
