Few physicians or patients have not been affected by the sudden expansion of telemedicine in the past year, which ballooned into mainstream clinical practice in 2020 as a technological patch laid over the holes in healthcare access caused by the upheaval of the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet even though telemedicine may feel like an useful if uncomfortably new medium to most practitioners or patients today, the theory and practice of this “medicine at a distance” were laid out more than five decades ago.
Patricia Russo, Executive Director, Women’s Campaign School at Yale will share stories of the good, the bad, and the unpredictable on the campaign trail as you prepare a run for office. Patti will provide ways in which you can avoid expensive, rookie mistakes in order to run effectively and successfully. If you are interested in leading a more civically engaged life, this workshop will help you find your footing quickly and easily. Come jump into the political pipeline with Patti!

Something bugs you. Excites you. Compels you to act. But how? How do you share your expertise or passion about a topic and try to change the world or, at least, the way some people think?
In this workshop, we’ll discuss how to get your voice onto the page and your ideas onto the national stage. We’ll cover the key components of great opinion essays, the best way to approach an outlet, working with an editor, and review a few attendees’ pieces. (Pieces of no more than 750 words need to be submitted by March 8 and will be selected by the workshop leader.)
Stories are powerful communication tools that can connect us and move us to action. Participants in this workshop will gain a basic understanding of the science of storytelling and what to consider when creating a story. We will then use Marshall Ganz’s model to help all participants draft a short “story of self.”
In today’s busy and often contentious world, listening is as important an art as making yourself heard. This workshop provides the tools and skills to make you a better listener and help you practice effective listening skills. Encounter fewer misunderstandings, resolve more conflicts, and be more impactful by learning how to truly listen.
