VIRTUAL: Yale Alumni Service Corps Presents: Amandla Virtual Reading Group, Session 3

Join us as we help Amandla run virtual reading groups for kids in the South African township of Philippi.
Due to the legacy of apartheid education, literacy is a major challenge as most kids aren’t exposed to a culture of reading. To encourage reading for pleasure among Grades 7 and 9 Philippi learners, these students will be reading Kwame Alexander’s “Crossover” series during their winter holiday.

Call To Service

In partnership with the City of New Haven, American Legion Post 210, VFW Post 12150, National Veterans Council for Legal Redress, and Yale Veterans Network, join us for a morning of community service at the Vietnam War Memorial – Long Wharf Drive, New Haven, CT. Materials will be provided by the New Haven Public Works Department. Please bring your work gloves, shovels, brooms, and gas or battery powered blowers or trimers. COVID guidelines will be followed and masks and social distancing will be required and adhered to. Food and beverage will not be provided.
