We will be joined by Karla Cornejo Villavicencio to discuss her book The Undocumented Americans. As one of the first undocumented immigrants to graduate from Harvard University, Karla reveals the hidden lives of her fellow undocumented Americans in this deeply personal and groundbreaking portrait of a nation. Juneteenth Day: "Visions of Our Future" Virtual Performances

Join us on Juneteenth for the “Visions of Our Future” virtual performances. The artists performing will be M’Bosse Dance Company of Senegal and Keepers of the Culture Performing Arts Company with music by Elder Brian Jarawa Gray, Antwain Johnson, Jr. as Fred Hampton, and the Rahsaan Langley Project. This event will be hosted by Hanan Hameen, Co-Founder of the Official Juneteenth Coalition of Greater New Haven.

Juneteenth Opening Ceremony, Elder Honoring, and Mantle Award

The Juneteenth Opening Ceremony will include messages by Mayor Justin Elicker and Elder Byron Breland, as well as performances by Dr. Karima Robinson as Ida B. Wells, Keepers of the Culture Performing Arts Company, singer Lucitta Odyce Adger, artist/poet Shaunda Holloway, and singers Pamela Campbell and son, Gabriel Abdul-Kareem. The event will be hosted by Chaz Carmon, Hanan Hameen, and Tennille Murphy of the Official Juneteenth Coalition of Greater New Haven.

VIRTUAL: Transcending Conflict Through Song (day 2)

Join the Yale International Alliance and the Yale Alumni Association Board of Governors for an interactive session on Transcending Conflict Through Song with Micah Hendler ‘11, founder and artistic director of The Jerusalem Youth Chorus.
In this interactive and participatory 90-minute session for the Yale Alumni community, Micah will dig deep into the musical bridge-building methods this Israeli-Palestinian chorus has pioneered in Jerusalem and explore their global applications as manifested through the work of Raise Your Voice Labs.
