Yale GISday Virtual Conference 2020

Yale University will celebrate GIS Day 2020 with the Yale GISday Virtual Conference: Mapping Spatial Inequity. Our GIS community at Yale University has shown an innovative application of geographic information system (GIS) technology in analysis, visualization, gaining insights into geospatial data, and decision-making in many fields ranging from science and social science to medicine, among others.

Art & Protest: Victoria Lomasko on a Trip to Minsk

Victoria Lomasko is an artist, journalist and writer who has described her preferred genre or medium less as documentary comics or graphic novellas than live “graphic reporting.” Born in Serpukhov, Lomasko graduated from the Moscow State University of Printing Arts with a specialty in in graphic art and book design. A fixture at Moscow’s protests and political trials, Lomasko exposes the inequality and injustice at the heart of contemporary Russian society and gives voice to Russia’s many voiceless citizens.

“155 Years Overdue: Black Reparations in the United States”

Dr. William A. (“Sandy”) Darity, Jr. will deliver the third lecture of the BSTP-Sponsored Reparations Speaker Series (BSTP-RSS): “155 Years Overdue: Black Reparations in the United States.” Dr. Darity is the director of the Samuel DuBois Cook Center on Social Equity at Duke University. His latest book, coauthored with A. Kirsten Mullen, From Here to Equality: Reparations for Black Americans in the 21st Century, presents a comprehensive case and roadmap for restorative justice for black Americans who inherited the trauma and economic subjugation of slavery and Jim Crow segregation.
