We have teams coming in from six other colleges across the east coast with over 100+ dancers as well as 7 Yale teams performing as well. Summary of Adam’s Talk:
The emergence and translation of Mendel’s discoveries about genetics into English coincided with the rise of eugenics, and provided its most devoted apostles with a biological mechanism to justify their bigotry. An ideological commitment to mendelian pedigrees formed the pseudoscientific basis for mass sterilisation and genocide. We now have a much more sophisticated understanding of human genetics, but this eugenic spectre limps on in our culture, reinforcing a view of biology that is simplistic, deterministic and wrong.

Ilia Calderón is an Emmy Award–winning journalist, the co-anchor of Univision’s flagship evening newscast Noticiero Univision, and cohost of Univision’s primetime news magazine Aquí y Ahora. She is the first Afro-Latina to anchor a national weekday evening newscast for a major Hispanic broadcast network in the United States, having previously co-anchored three other news desks for Univision and two for Telemundo. She is the author of My Time to Speak: Reclaiming Ancestry and Confronting Race (2020).

Join us for a conversation with Yale College Dean Pericles Lewis and Professor Anjelica Gonzalez on how basic science becomes impactful through a focus on human needs. Prof. Gonzalez is Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering, Head of Davenport College, and Faculty Director at Tsai Center for Innovative Thinking at Yale. Her work focuses on engineering solutions for human diseases not addressed well in animal models. Prof. Gonzalez is co-founder of Aero Therapeutics, a company that develops respiratory devices for infants.
