Making your form accessible is important for so many reasons! We will discuss best practices, how to properly label form controls, and what to do about errors (more importantly, how to avoid errors!).

Storytelling
Experience the enduring power of storytelling by participating in this annual tradition of honoring Dr. King through stories and song. Learn about and engage with his legacy through fables and a captivating program the whole family can enjoy. Featuring Clifton Graves (Chicken and the Eagle, The Creation), Joy Donaldson (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Word), and Waltrina Kirkland-Mullins. Dr. Robbie Thomas will also join us for a reading of her children’s book “Mommy, Why Am I Different?”
Join us for a reimagined Open Mic and Poetry Jam celebrating Dr. King through verse and spoken word. Hosted by Ngoma Hill and Croilot Semexan, this year’s event will honor Zanette Lewis who planted the seeds from which this signature program has grown.
The Open Mic will begin at 6pm and be followed by a tribute to Zanette Lewis featuring our hosts and a phenomenal line up of internationally recognized artists, including Taalam Acey, Roger Bonair Agard, Lyvonne Proverbs Briggs, Jessica Care Moore, Aaron Jafferis, and Sunni Patterson.

The Yale Peabody Museum’s annual MLK celebration has been reimagined and transformed into a digital festival experience. This year the Peabody is hosting a series of free, online programs with opportunities to engage in critical dialogue and enjoy storytelling, music, dance, and spoken word performances.
This two hour Zoom workshop is designed to train staff who input content into websites how to do so in ways that meet Yale’s Web Accessibility Policy. Note: This workshop is primarily for people who create content through tools such as Wordpress or YaleSites Drupal.
If you add content to your websites, chances are you’re also responsible for managing social media for your department or unit. Social media platforms like YouTube/Vimeo, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest can present unique challenges for users with disabilities, many of which are beyond your control.
