Curators' Talk and Reception: Two Student Research Exhibitions

Please join us to celebrate the openings of two student exhibitions “Anne Boleyn: Life and Legend” and “City Rewritten: The Oak Street Connector and Urban Renewal in New Haven”, on view in the Sterling Library Exhibition Corridor from October 13, 2023 to April 21, 2024. Student curators Hannah Oblak ’24 and Simone Herko Felton ’25 will provide tours of their exciting exhibitions and will be available for questions and conversation over light refreshments afterward. No registration is necessary.

Dalit Art and Writing on a Global Stage

The recent online hate campaign against a Dalit woman writer has raised urgent concerns with far reaching consequences for the wider fields of literary criticism and cultural studies. The nascent and emergent Dalit Letters in English has exploded into view some hitherto unsettled questions around ownership, inspiration, plagiarism, female creativity, and artistic ethicality with respect to Dalit art.

'Rustin' Film Screening with Producer Bruce Cohen '83

Join us for a prerelease screening of the Netflix film Rustin, an inspiring story based on the life and work of Bayard Rustin, close advisor to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and one of the most influential and effective organizers of the civil rights movement. Produced by Academy award winner Bruce Cohen ‘83, Higher Ground’s Tonia Davis and George C. Wolfe, the film features an all-star cast including Colman Domingo, Chris Rock, Glynn Turman, Jeffrey Wright and Audra McDonald.

LATINExcellence Showcase

The LATINExcellence Showcase is back for 2023! The showcase will feature visual art and written pieces on display, as well as performances by Latine/x individuals/groups ranging from comedy and music to dancing and speeches. . We are looking to celebrate Latine/x people in all spaces, to showcase all voices, talents, and achievements.

Those ages 21+ can enjoy a beverage in The Well which is open for this special event.
