Trans Dudes with Lady Cancer: Film screening and community conversation with filmmakers Yee Won Chong and Brooks Nelson

What are the chances that two transmasculine people living under the same roof would be diagnosed with “lady cancer” in the same month—one with breast cancer and the other with ovarian cancer?

Join filmmakers Yee Won Chong and Brooks Nelson for a public screening of Trans Dudes with Lady Cancer, followed by a panel discussion. This courageous short film documents the personal journey of the filmmakers, their family, and their community as they navigate a medical system that is scrambling to figure out how to provide affirming care for transgender people.

Fieldwork is an integral part of the earth, life, and social sciences, but has unique logistical constraints, opportunities, and impacts. These considerations affect who becomes a part of field-based science. There are growing efforts to make scientific fieldwork more inclusive, but these are often siloed or institution-specific, limiting their potential to solve problems that cross-cut disciplines.

Caribbean Expressions at Yale University

Caribbean Expression at Yale is an event that takes place during Caribbean American Heritage Month; June. The goal of this event is to provide a space for Caribbean art and culture to shine, as well as give people of Caribbean heritage a space for their voice to be heard and their work to be seen. We intend to host exhibitions, a weekly speaker series, performances and workshops that focuses on specific areas like art, theater, dance and music.

Film + Q&A of CANOEROS: Living Memory a National Geographic Documentary

Canoeros: Living Memory shares an epic journey of the Kawésqar communities and National Geographic Pristine Seas across the Chilean Patagonian Ocean to defend an indigenous territory from the salmon industry.

Following the screening of the documentary, a question and answer panel will be held featuring two of the indigenous leaders featured in the film, Leticia Caro and Eric Huaiquil (members of the Kawésqar people), and Alex Muñoz, YSE McCluskey Fellow and former National Geographic Pristine Seas Director for Latin America.
