One, Episode 17: Daniela Hart (Video Premiere)

In episode #17 of the Yale Schwarzman Center (YSC) web series, One, sound designer Daniela Hart YSD’21 talks with interviewer Taiga Christie YSPH’20 about connections between her academic and professional journeys. After working in the sound department of a video game company, Hart delved into designing for film, theater, dance, and other art forms. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, she co-produced Pandemic Voices, a series of choreographed performances highlighting the experiences of frontline healthcare workers. This episode of One includes several excerpts from Pandemic Voices.

In episode #16 of the Schwarzman Center web series, O​ne, English major Jared Newman YC’20 talks with Laurie Gomez YC’22 about his senior thesis project in creative writing. His poetry anthology, entitled The Wisconsin Glacier, explores a breakage from life as we know it, confronting the influences of boredom, distraction, and attention – themes especially relevant in a time of physical distance.

Good Society Forum: The Power of Youth Voice in Creating a Good Society

Recent social movements such as Black Lives Matter and climate campaign activism have shown the powerful positive impact on the world when young people find their voice and a sense of purpose. However, many young people in the UK (and around the world) are disempowered by the systems and structures that are intended to support them. Young people’s mental wellbeing is a serious and growing concern in UK schools with one in six children aged 5-16 years now identified as having a probable mental disorder.

Join us for a reimagined Open Mic and Poetry Jam celebrating Dr. King through verse and spoken word. Hosted by Ngoma Hill and Croilot Semexan, this year’s event will honor Zanette Lewis who planted the seeds from which this signature program has grown.
