VIRTUAL: Cafe IT - "Inclusionary Practices"

Red Bergeron and Andrew Gilkes members of Yale’s Climate, Culture, and Inclusion team invite you to a conversation about Inclusive Practices.
This will be a 90-minute session that will cover the what, why, and how of Inclusive Practices, speak about 5 specific Inclusionary Practices to build a foundation on the topic, and offer breakout rooms to discuss this topic in small groups before having a larger group discussion.
Resources for further learning will be provided at the end of the session.

Making your form accessible is important for so many reasons! Learn about and engage with his legacy through fables and a captivating program the whole family can enjoy. Featuring Clifton Graves (Chicken and the Eagle, The Creation), Joy Donaldson (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Word), and Waltrina Kirkland-Mullins. Dr. Robbie Thomas will also join us for a reading of her children’s book “Mommy, Why Am I Different?”

VIRTUAL: 25th Annual MLK Celebration: Open Mic and Poetry Jam in honor of Zanette Lewis

Join us for a reimagined Open Mic and Poetry Jam celebrating Dr. King through verse and spoken word. Hosted by Ngoma Hill and Croilot Semexan, this year’s event will honor Zanette Lewis who planted the seeds from which this signature program has grown.

The Open Mic will begin at 6pm and be followed by a tribute to Zanette Lewis featuring our hosts and a phenomenal line up of internationally recognized artists, including Taalam Acey, Roger Bonair Agard, Lyvonne Proverbs Briggs, Jessica Care Moore, Aaron Jafferis, and Sunni Patterson.

Join the visionary and founding members of the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Legacy of Social and Environmental Justice as they welcome the community to this year’s virtual festival and offer a brief history of the event.
