Global Health Speaker Series | Professor Clarence C. Gravlee

The Global Health Studies Program will present its Spring 2021 Global Health Studies Speaker Series. The series—organized by Jackson Professor Catherine Panter-Brick and Jackson lecturer Cara Fallon—examines transformative relationships between health and a range of fields including public policy, law, technology, international relations, scientific research, economy, journalism, and more.
Clarence C. Gravlee, Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Florida, will present “Uprooting Racism, Promoting Health: Evidence and Action.”

VIRTUAL: 25th Annual MLK Celebration: Open Mic and Poetry Jam in honor of Zanette Lewis

Join us for a reimagined Open Mic and Poetry Jam celebrating Dr. King through verse and spoken word. Hosted by Ngoma Hill and Croilot Semexan, this year’s event will honor Zanette Lewis who planted the seeds from which this signature program has grown.

The Open Mic will begin at 6pm and be followed by a tribute to Zanette Lewis featuring our hosts and a phenomenal line up of internationally recognized artists, including Taalam Acey, Roger Bonair Agard, Lyvonne Proverbs Briggs, Jessica Care Moore, Aaron Jafferis, and Sunni Patterson.

Virtual: Women Empowerment Workshop

Join Future Leaders of Yale and the African American Affinity Group for a panel discussion designed for young women of color (ages 9-18), that will focus on the importance of empowerment, positivity, and overcoming adversity. Attendees will hear inspirational stories from Yale leaders and students, participate in a “Mindful Monday” empowerment exercise, learn about Yale University as an attainable option for education and employment, and participate in an environment where girls can talk freely and be themselves.
