Event description:

ALBERT WOODFOX
Author of Solitary

A ZOOM CONVERSATION WITH IRENE VÁZQUEZ ’21

Introduced by Anne Fadiman, Francis writer in Residence
Albert Woodfox spent forty years in prison, mostly in solitary confinement, for a crime he did not commit. Sustained by his friendship with two other Black Panthers, he turned his rage into activism and solidarity. Solitary was a finalist for both the Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award. The Washington Post wrote, “Solitary should make every reader writhe with shame and ask: What am I going to do to help change this?”
