Event description:

The Women’s Mental Health Conference (WMHC) at Yale University is the first academic and trainee-led conference dedicated to women’s mental health in the nation. It is free to attend (with registration) and open to the entire Yale community and public.
Women from a variety of backgrounds and gender expressions face many distinct mental health challenges, including substantially increased risk for experiencing sexual trauma, workplace harassment, and interpersonal violence. However, within health education, there is minimal focus on issues of women’s mental health and a dearth of necessary training to equip our workforce with the skills and tools needed to appropriately care for these populations.
The overarching goal of the conference is to improve care for women in all healthcare settings by promoting competency in women’s mental health. This conference aims to meet this goal through a 3-part mission:
- To equip attendees with practical skills that will materially improve their screening and management of women’s mental health;
- To highlight the often under-recognized contributions of women’s mental health researchers, advocates, and clinicians;
- To create an enduring community of women’s mental health advocates at Yale to further structural and cultural change both locally and nationally.
The tentative conference agenda is as follows (specific details will be announced shortly):
8:30 am: Registration
9:00 - 9:45 am: Opening Remarks
10:15 - 11:30 am: Eve Ensler Keynote Speech: “Women: Moving From Surviving to Thriving”*
11:30 - 12:00 pm: Eve Ensler Book Signing*
12:00 - 1:00 pm: Lunch (provided)
1:00 - 5:00 pm: Concurrent Sessions
5:00 - 7:00 pm: Reception
*Open to public, no registration required
We invite you to join us at the inaugural Women’s Mental Health Conference. If you plan to come only to Eve Ensler’s keynote or book signing, registration is not needed. Registration is required for attendees who plan to come for the entire conference.
