Dear members of the Yale community,
Warm greetings for the new year and the new term. I am pleased to write to celebrate a Belonging at Yale milestone.
In support of our common mission of excellence and engagement, Yale’s schools and administrative divisions have developed and are now implementing five-year plans to enhance diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. The plans reflect accomplishments to date, current activities, and long-term commitments to this high-priority work.
My colleague, Gary Desir, vice provost for faculty development and diversity; chair, department of Internal Medicine; and Paul B. Beeson Professor of Medicine, and I are grateful to the more than 150 colleagues whose work is reflected in schools’ and divisions’ plans and to the students, staff, faculty, and alumni whose ongoing efforts under Belonging at Yale advance the university’s mission and help make possible this vibrant community where we can encounter a broad array of ideas, be treated with dignity and respect, and feel welcome to make our voices heard.
I encourage you to look through the new set of infographic posters, which summarize recent accomplishments, plans for the first year, and priorities for the next five years in schools, divisions, and across the university, and invite you to consider how you might contribute to these efforts. You can reach us at belonging@yale.edu with questions or comments.
I look forward to writing again soon to share news about opportunities to connect with one other and the work of Belonging at Yale.
Sincerely,
Kimberly M. Goff-Crews
Secretary and Vice President for University Life
