Event description:
In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (1929–1968), the Yale Center for British Art will host a special display in the Study Room. We will celebrate Dr. King’s vision for a more compassionate and just future with a selection of rare materials highlighting the concepts of equity, justice, peace, and protest in drawings, photographs, and prints. Highlights include hand-colored plates by William Blake (1757–1827) from his book Jerusalem, photographs of London’s anti–Vietnam War rallies by Lewis Morley (1925–2013), and Study for “The Golden Age,” a vision of a harmonious society by Francis Danby (1793–1861).
