Message on Earthquake in Myanmar

March 29, 2025

The university expresses sympathy and concern for our students, scholars, and alumni from Myanmar, and all members of our community with family and friends who are affected by the ongoing crisis following Friday’s devastating earthquake, which also affected parts of Thailand.

Yale has resources in place to aid the campus community in times of distress. If you need support, you can contact:

Mental Health and Counseling at Yale Health, where assistance is available around the clock. The telephone number is (203) 432-0290 during business hours and for urgent concerns after hours. (Postdocs with Yale Health Insurance have free access to Magellan Counseling Services. Call 1-800-327-9240 or visit www.MagellanHealth.com/member any time day or night. Postdoctoral Fellows with non-Yale health insurance should contact the Office for Postdoctoral Affairs)

The Chaplain’s Office (Old Campus, Bingham Hall, Entryway D; (203) 432-1128) is also among the resources available to all members of our community.

OISS is also open at 421 Temple St or by phone at (203) 432-2305) to anyone who needs support.

The Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) has reached out directly to students and scholars most closely connected to Myanmar. Members of the university community in need of assistance can also contact Ozan Say, Director of the OISS.
