Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Live In Concert

Building on the success of the sold-out global shows of the first Oscar®-winning Spider-Man™ animated Spider-Verse film, comes the highly anticipated sequel: SPIDER-MAN™: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE, set to captivate audiences in concert venues worldwide.

These films have garnered immense popularity, largely due to their groundbreaking soundtracks praised for their innovative fusion of orchestral and electronic elements alongside scratch DJ techniques.

Free Family Fun Day

Shubert Theatre will treat patrons to a walking backstage tour of the theatre with trick or treat stations along the way as well as an arts and crafts area. Children under 12 are welcome to wear Halloween costumes for trick or treating in the Shubert lobby—in consideration of all our patrons, we ask that participants do not bring prop weapons.

RSVP so we will know how many people are in your party - registration is suggested but not required.

Encanto: The Sing-Along Film Concert

Experience the film ENCANTO on a giant screen and sing-along to the chart-topping hits with a host and live band. This Sing-Along version of the film features on-screen lyrics as you watch your favorite Columbian musical numbers, including “The Family Madrigal,” “Surface Pressure,” “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” “Dos Oruguitas” and more! “Encanto” features original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda with a score by Germaine Franco.

Community Weekend Honoring Amistad: Open House at Amistad Freedom Schooner

At noon on Saturday, a musical performance by Michael Mills, master drummer/percussionist accompanied by drummers of “Rhythms from the Heart” at the Long Wharf Dock will launch an open house of the Amistad Freedom Schooner till 5:00 p.m. Admission will be free of charge. Discovering Amistad staff members will be onsite to discuss the significance of the Amistad Rebellion of 1839, how the ship model was built, and how it is used today.

Community Weekend Honoring Amistad: Tours of the “Amistad: Retold” exhibition

The New Haven Museum is hosting free, hourly tours of the “Amistad: Retold” exhibition. “Amistad: Retold” highlights the experiences of the people who led the Amistad Revolt and their collective actions to determine their own lives and focuses on New Haven as the site of their incarceration and abolitionist organizing leading to the landmark Supreme Court decision.

Community Weekend Honoring Amistad: Nia Arts and Quoron Walker

The New Haven Museum collaboration with the Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Resistance, and Abolition, and Discovering Amistad—co-sponsored by the Amistad Committee, the Office of New Haven Affairs, and the Black & Brown Soul Cyclist—will continue on Saturday, July 20, 2024, with a musical performance by Nia Arts and Quoron Walker at 10 a.m., at the New Haven Museum (114 Whitney Ave.).

Community Weekend Honoring Amistad: Screening of Amistad (1997)

On Friday, July 19, 2024, at 7:30 p.m., a free outdoor screening of the 1997 film “Amistad” by Steven Spielberg will be held at the Canal Boathouse at Long Wharf, of the Amistad Freedom Schooner, the 129-foot reconstruction replica of the original historical schooner, as a commanding visual backdrop. Visitors can visit the schooner for an open house and “Food Truck Paradise” on Long Wharf between 3 - 7 p.m. and bring their own picnics and chairs to the deck.

Treasures from the Yale Film Archive: Slumdog Millionaire

Slumdog Millionaire Danny Boyle (2008, 35mm, 120 mins)

The debut film for Dev Patel and Freida Pinto—and the first international film for Bollywood superstar Anil Kapoor—won eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Described as “Oliver Twist by way of City of God” (Peter Howell), Slumdog Millionaire recounts a street kid’s improbable rise to game show glory and the young love that drove him to succeed. 35mm print from the Yale Film Archive.

Join Descendants of the CT 29th Colored Regiment for their 9th Annual Juneteenth Festival on Saturday, June 22nd. The social wellness of all people of color is the inspiration of this year’s theme – Pan Africanism: Unified by History, Connected in Culture, and Focused on the Future.
