Event description:

Every February, the Japanese American community commemorates Executive Order 9066 as a reminder of the impact the incarceration experience has had on their families, community, and this country. In observance of the 80th anniversary of Executive Order 9066 that was signed on February 19, 1942 this event will feature Seattle-based Yonsei cartoonist and illustrator, Kiku Hughes, whose historical graphic novel Displacement tells the story of a teenager who is pulled back in time to witness her grandmother’s experiences in the Japanese American internment camps. Open to all Yale community members, the event will draw parallels between past and current events and the red flags we are seeing today in hope that we can learn from the mistakes of the past to build a better future.
