Event description:

Thomas J Price talks with Martina Droth, deputy director and chief curator, Yale Center for British Art. Price will discuss his artistic practice as well as his Hackney Windrush Artwork commission, “Warm Shores,” a permanent public artwork honoring the Windrush community and unveiled in June 2022.
.
Born in 1981 in London, Price is a multidisciplinary artist who works across film, photography, and sculpture. One of the most important contemporary British sculptors of his generation, he prompts individuals to question whom society deems worthy of a monument and how we collectively occupy space.
.
“Warm Shores,” unveiled outside Hackney Town Hall, was the first permanent public sculpture to celebrate the contributions of the Windrush generation and its descendants in the United Kingdom
