Our third event in the “Beyond the Ballot: Representation and Participation” series, join us for a virtual discussion and concert with Ruby Ibarra, a Filipina-American artist/rapper from the Bay Area.

Born in the Philippines and raised in California, Ruby raps about her experiences as an immigrant in the US in English, Tagalog, and Waray. Ruby is a fierce believer in artists utilizing their platform to speak up about social issues. Thus, Ruby is a vocal activist for voting in this election and the Black Lives Matter movement, while also advocating against the injustices currently occuring in the Philippines. She is also a research-scientist in a biotech company focusing on COVID-19 test kits and a potential vaccine!
