Quiara Alegría Hudes ’99
Event description: 

Quiara Alegría Hudes is a playwright and author originally from West Philly with roots in Boriken. Her play Water by the Spoonful won the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Her Tony-winning Broadway musical In the Heights, written with Lin-Manuel Miranda, will soon be a major motion picture, adapted for the screen by Hudes. Together with her cousin Sean, Hudes cofounded Emancipated Stories, so people behind bars can share one page of their life story with those on the “outside.” See all the Emancipated Stories on Instagram at @emancipated_stories_project. Next up is her memoir, published next year by One World/Random House.
