Together We Stand, Men's Event

On June 11th, Vaughn Signatures will be hosting its first Men’s Event, titled, Together We Stand. The event will be held at the Crystal Ball Room in Naugatuck, CT. The purpose of this event is to offer a safe space and platform for fathers and all males to provoke change, awareness, and bonding. The event will include expert speakers to discuss a variety of topics, that aim to Equip, Educate and Empower men within their communities. Each attendee will be provided a meal and a free giveaway.

VIRTUAL: Kitchen Talk: Food Histories, Literature, and Afro-Asian Archives in the Americas

Join the Association of Asian American Yale Alumni and Kitchen Marronage for a virtual kitchen talk with novelist Monique Truong (YC’90) and Dr. Tao Leigh Goffe (GSAS ‘15). Together the two will explore Afro-Asian intimacies in the culinary archives of colonial encounter. A special recipe will be distributed to participants beforehand.

11th Annual Free Market & Health Fair

New Haven Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., in partnership with the Epsilon Iota Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., will celebrate their 11th Annual event on Saturday, June 10, 2023. Pressing Onward: The Imperative Resilience of Latina Migrant Mothers

Pressing Onward centers the stories of mothers who migrated from Latin America, settled in New Haven, Connecticut, and overcame trauma and ongoing adversity to build futures for their children. These migrant mothers enact imperative resilience, engaging cognitive and social strategies to resist racial, economic and gender-based oppression to seguir adelante, or press onward.
Meet author Jessica P. Cerdeña, Ph.D. and be a part of the conversation with interviewer Jenny Medina Morris, Managing Director and Consultant, Omniculture Communications.

VIRTUAL: The 50/50 Campaign Virtual Learning Session

Join YWCA Hartford Region, Yale’s Affinity Groups, and The New Haven Club of The National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club’s Inc. for a virtual learning session about the 50/50 Campaign, an initiative to promote gender equity and racial diversity on municipal boards and commissions. The 50/50 Campaign educates and encourages community members to join their local municipal boards and commissions to ensure residents have a voice in the decision-making process and help improve the quality of life for their community.

Fair Haven Day

Join us for a parade and festival celebrating community, local art and artists, culture, sports, creativity, entrepreneurship, and partnership, presented by and for the Fair Haven neighborhood. Fair Haven Day begins with the Fair Haven Community Parade organized by the Mary Wade Home, followed by a full day of activities at the Arts & Ideas Fair Haven Neighborhood Festival.

Technological innovations are rapidly deepening our understanding of the human genome for both scientists and the public alike, emphasizing the need to explore the societal implications of the genomic revolution. This year’s series will explore the complex, changing relationship on what science can tell us about our ancestry, how this science can be performed more equitably, and how these genomic insights translate into the public’s understanding of race, medicine, and history.
