Women and Gender Minorities in Science at Yale (WISAY) and Out in STEM (oSTEM) are excited to host Dr. Clara Barker, Ph.D., a scientist who manages the Center for Applied Superconductivity at Oxford University, where she is also the vice chair of the LGBT+ advisory group. Dr. Barker is also an advocate for LGBT+ diversity and vocally campaigns for trans rights.
Dr. Barker will speak about her journey in STEM, both personally and career-wise. She will also speak on the environment within STEM and society and how that impacted her story. Following her hour-long talk, we will have a mixed moderated discussion for 30 minutes. Please feel free to submit questions to the moderators or ask questions yourself!
Dr. Clara Barker, Ph.D., manages the Center for Applied Superconductivity at Oxford University. She is the vice chair of the LGBT+ advisory group at Oxford University, and vocally campaigns for trans rights.
