First-Year Hot Takes

The First-Year Hot Takes event will have the first-years involved with the NACC community stand up in front of each other and present ANYTHING they are passionate about! Nobody will plan anything in advance, giving the audience a true insight into their natural trains of thought and hopefully grow closer as a result. Subjects may include (but are not limited to): conspiracy theories about TV shows, survival tips for someone’s hometown, arguments for why we should adopt one’s unusual habits, etc. We hope to see you there!

Dinner at the Office: Winter is Coming

This is a casual dinner & cooking/baking session, and a chance meet other folks around campus! We will have diverse group of people from all around Yale, and RSVP (peihua.chen@yale.edu) if you want to join in! We will probably cap the event around 13 people. Feel free to send requests for recipes you want to cook/bake!

Leaders Forum Lunch: Jim Snabe, Chairman of the Board, Mærsk and Siemans

Please save the date for our first Yale SOM Leaders Forum talk of the semester. We will be welcoming Jim Snabe, Chairman of the Board, Mærsk and Siemens, and member of the Board of Trustees at World Economic Forum. The talk is entitled “Dreams and Details - Reinvent your Business and your Leadership from a Position of Strength.” Our speaker will present for 40 minutes, and there will be time for Q & A. The talk will be moderated by Jeffrey A. Sonnenfeld, Senior Associate Dean for Leadership Studies & Lester Crown Professor in the Practice of Management at Yale.

Serra Hoagland is a Liaison Officer and Biologist with the USDA Forest Service. Serra will be available to discuss tribal natural resources and careers in environmental stewardship.

DataHaven is a non-profit organization, whose mission is to improve quality of life by collecting, interpreting and sharing public data for effective decision-making. Come find out how the Census and other public datasets impact life in the New Haven area.

Exhibit: 1950s Photography of the Great Hall of the People in Beijing

The nine historic photographs of the iconic Great Hall of the People in this exhibit are chosen from an extensive archive of over 10,000 photographs collected by the Beijing Institute of Architectural Design (Group) Co., Ltd. (BIAD). These photographs, on display for the first time outside of China, provide a visual documentation of the construction process of the Great Hall of the People from 1958 to 1959.
