The Connecticut FBI Outreach Team, Yale Police Department, New Haven Police Department, and Connecticut State Police invite the public to a unique event called Community, Cops and Culture which is designed to build and strengthen relationships between ethnic communities and law enforcement. The project is intended to raise respect and tolerance for diversity through cultural education and interaction with police officers.
Abdul-Razak Zachariah grew up in West Haven, Connecticut, and is a loyal 2017 TD alum. He was deeply involved in diversity and inclusion advocacy and received the Mellon Mays Research Fellowship and the Nakanishi Prize. Abdul’s first book, The Night is Yours, was released in July 2019 by Dial Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Penguin Random House. The story is based on the apartment complex and community where he grew up in West Haven. The Night is Yours is the product of his Education Studies capstone project.

The Yale Forest Forum offers weekly lunch talks during the academic year, providing opportunities to hear from leaders in forest management, conservation, or policy in an informal setting. The YFF speaker series is the longest continuously-running speaker series at F&ES. Speakers come from a wide range of organizations and perspectives, including government, NGOs and businesses, working at scales from local to international.
Broad Recognition will be celebrating the release of our 50/150 Zine which celebrates and highlights the history of women at Yale. The Launch Reception will also feature readings of pieces in our Zine, as well as an opportunity to meet the Broad Recognition Staff. Food and drinks will be available.

The nine historic photographs of the iconic Great Hall of the People in this exhibit are chosen from an extensive archive of over 10,000 photographs collected by the Beijing Institute of Architectural Design (Group) Co., Ltd. (BIAD). These photographs, on display for the first time outside of China, provide a visual documentation of the construction process of the Great Hall of the People from 1958 to 1959.
In addition to the 276 manuscripts under the call number “Turkish MSS Suppl”, the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library of Yale has a remarkable collection of another 188 Turkish manuscripts, dated from 1496 to 1933 A.D., which are yet uncatalogued.

In conjunction with the 50 Women at Yale 150 campus-wide celebration, two Yale College seniors have curated side-by-side exhibits on two different aspects of women at Yale using materials from library collections.
Yale University Library has been collecting Chinese-language materials for 170 years. Six titles of Chinese classical texts were deposited at Yale in August 1849, making the College Library the first academic library in the United States to collect Chinese-language books. Samuel Wells Williams, the inaugural Professor of Chinese Language and Literature at Yale, was largely responsible for the earliest acquisitions for the Library. Yung Wing, the first Chinese citizen to graduate from a major American college, was the most important contributor to the founding of Yale’s Chinese Collection.
